Wine celebrations in Tuscany

Now we go to Tuscany, where in October there are many fairies and traditional feasts. One of these is the Pigio of Poggibonsi, on 6th and 7th October, a grapes pressing contest among the 7 districts of the city, a very funny and lively competition with the Boccione award, a demijohn painted everytime by a different artist.

wine-festivals-in-tuscany During the Pigio there are also parades, historic pageants and wine tastings, a nice festival that involves the most genuine traditions of Chianti, when grapes were pressed by feet and the harvest was an occasion to begin a party. The province of Siena, in Trequanda, is the next destination because there will take place another feast, the Festa dell’Olio Novo, from 20th to 21st October, an event dedicated to high quality extravirgin olive oil, with many producers and stands to taste it on bread and with other specialties.

The Olio Novo announces the begin of the season and every year express a color and a perfume slightly different, so is a unique Senese gastronomical souvenir.

To enjoy your weekend choose a charming relais in Tuscany in a strategical position to see Siena and its province rich of meetings. There isn’t only Palio, but many others pageants set in suggestive Medieval towns, that are faithful to theirs own origins.

Now is the best period to plan a travel and leave for destinations full of strong flavors and heady scents, just like the products of those lands.
